Although nursing may not be a preferred career choice as individuals consider other jobs more economically and socially satisfying, however the reality is that nursing is unique because of its interdisciplinary nature—-a nurse is not only interested in the treatment and the therapy of a patient he or she has to be proficient in social sciences like psychology, philosophy and even sociology to deal with any situation that may arise. Nurses not only help in treating the illness, they play a major role acting as a liaison between the patients, their families and the doctors, they provide emotional support, creating empathy and a distinctive relationship with patients who under their care. In addition when a nurse interacts with different people at different levels a whole network develops, thus all disciplines are an essential part of a nurse’s routine.
There are several reasons why I have opted for a career in nursing:
Nursing is an ever evolving profession, which has developed and widened its boundaries with the changing needs, this dynamic career is very appealing to me as it allows a nurse to grow and develop with new technology and research.
