Essay: Role of Women

Sample Essay

Words 1,200

This is an essay on the role of women. To be a perfect lady a woman has to follow so many rules that there are chances that the woman may not be able to fulfill them. All household chores including gardening and all skills of a good hostess are essential for a woman to be a lady.

Kincaid on the other hand talks about what a girl is supposed to do, and how she is supposed to perform various tasks that are the most important part of her life like washing clothes or cooking food or even how to great people or even how to eat. To be a perfect lady a woman has to follow so many rules that there are chances that the woman may not be able to fulfill them. All household chores including gardening and all skills of a good hostess are essential for a woman to be a lady.

Both essays show how much of herself a woman has to put in for other people to make them feel comfortable, without understanding or satisfying her own needs or wants. A woman is expected to cater to everyone but herself to make the man happy and be acceptable to the society.

It is the woman, who through her various roles in life, keeps everything together in an accepted fashion. She is the one who provides cohesion and support so that a family is viable and men are totally dependent on her for their needs and for being able to function in the society. Acting as the manager and balancing various roles the woman acts as the cohesive force, which keeps the family and the society together.

This subservient role of woman is there to counteract the dominating male role in the society, if the women do not behave in the conventional way then there are chances that the society’s fabric will disintegrate as then there will be no one responsible to manage everything when men are not ready to take on or share some of the responsibilities associated with women.
