Why do people develop an eating disorder? There is no one answer to this question and certainly no easy explanation as to why people fall prey to this problem. There are many eating disorders which exist however the most common ones are bulimia and anorexia nervosa which affect teenagers and young adults to the greatest extent (Larocca). Promoting Health: Essay
4 works cited
Length: 2725 words
What does the term ‘health’ mean? Health is referred to a person’s mental, social and physical well being (Burch). Previously, people defined health as there being no disease present in a person. Health is something which can be promoted and promoting health helps a person in making use of his/her ability to make their health better and have a certain degree of control over it.
A healthy individual is he who can adjust himself according to the surroundings. A person will always have to face various types of changes in the environment and if he/she can adapt to these changes, he would be considered healthy. It is wrong to think that promoting health should only be carried out by doctors and those in the health industry. This is not true. Everyone is responsible for their own health and how this responsibility is taken care of reflects a person’s personality and lifestyle.
Health promotion is something which is important to retailers, employers, athletes and even the government because it is the environment and social factors which influence a person’s health and well being (Ottawa Charter). Dialogue Between Emily Dickinson and Fredrick Douglass: Paper
Dialogue
Words 1,016
Emily Dickinson: Good day Mr. Douglass, have we met?
Fredrick Douglass: Good day to you too Mam, thank you for agreeing to see me, it is a great honor to meet such a popular poetess, and it gives me great pleasure that you have given me the opportunity to see you in person, knowing you do not entertain many let alone a stranger.
Emily Dickinson: Since you do not live in the vicinity, I decided to see, you, I admit more out of curiosity than anything else. I had almost forgotten what a colored man looked like.
Fredrick Douglass: I understand what you mean, I have read some of your work and it is nothing like what I have read before, in fact please allow me to say that your expositions on the eternal feelings and nature are very illuminating. Especially your writings on the mundane things in life, like the rock and the bee, is very fascinating, and not only that the intensity and the depth of emotions like grief joy and love in the poems cannot be compared.
Emily Dickinson: (Surprised) Why Mr. Douglass, you know quite a lot………. I did not know my poetry was so popular, indeed, I did not know people liked what I wrote.
Fredrick Douglass: Well, thank you Mam.
Emily Dickinson: I do not intend to be rude, but I am curious, tell me Mr. Douglass…..
