Judaism as a growing religious civilization. One crucial sign of this is that one need not believe, or even do, anything to be Jewish; the historic definition of ‘Jewishness’ requires only that one be born of a Jewish mother or that one convert to Judaism in concurrence with Jewish law. The Bible states the religious worldview of Judaism, which is developed further in rabbinic prose. It also states the basic belief that heaven and earth are God’s property

God is the Creator of the natural world, and can thus do with it whatsoever He sees fit. The Jewish outlook toward the environment must be seen in the framework of the central theme of the Tanakh: that man and the Israelites especially should recognize and serve God in whatever ways He commands. Interestingly, while Jews hold that such impression of God is incorrect, they normally are of the opinion that gentiles that hold such beliefs are not held culpable.
