Essay: Topic Sentences
Topic sentence 1: My friend Pat and I are considered to be twins because we are so very similar; we look alike, we sometimes dress alike, and oftentimes people get us confused when we answer each other’s phones, and even our family members get us mixed up when we are standing right in front of them—Pat’s mom will sometimes call me Pat while my mom will call her by my name.
Topic sentence 2: Howard Stern and I are completely different people; we are in no way alike aside from the fact that he is rich and famous while I’m not, but also he’s a pervert that’s into degrading women while that is not my style at all.
Topic sentence 3: I love visiting New York City, especially during the winter when there’s snow and all the people walk around bundled up, but I can’t stand it when I’m dragged to visit family in Huntsville, Texas, no matter what time of the year it is there because it’s a boring, slow, backwoods hick town.
Topic sentence 4: I can never decide whether I want to eat Amy’s Organic Cheese Pizza for dinner, or if I would rather have Enchiladas Suiza by Lean Cuisine, and both are healthy, tasty, and are worth their prices, not to mention leave you feeling satisfied and light instead of heavy and bloated if I had gotten a pizza from the local pizzeria or if I had gone to a Mexican restaurant and gotten enchiladas suizas from the menu.
