Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, according to the Mayo Clinic website, is “a group of chronic disorders that begin in childhood and sometimes last into adult life.”  Dr. Armstrong defines it as “a neurologically based disorder, most probably of genetic origin that afflicts from 3 to 5 percent of America’s children  . . . .” (1997, p. 4).  ADHD “is six to eight times more common in boys than in girls,” (Friedman & Doyal, 1987, p. 3).  There is no known cause nor is there no known cure.  According to Drs. Friedman and Doyal, there are four major symptoms associated with ADHD the first is inattention with approximately “three of the following”:

1.  Often fails to finish things. . . .

4.  Has difficulty concentrating . . . .
