This is an essay on AIDS. There are many diseases which are very common these days. They are transmitted through various ways and people need to be aware of the way in which these diseases occur in order to know how these should be prevented.
There are many diseases which are very common these days. They are transmitted through various ways and people need to be aware of the way in which these diseases occur in order to know how these should be prevented. One of the common diseases of today is known as AIDS.
AIDS- Acquired immune deficiency syndrome is a problem which occurs in the immune system of an individual. This causes the spread of infections which the immune system is not able to cope with and hence causes many problems for the victim of this disease. If a person generally has a strong immune system and is able to combat against various infections and diseases, AIDS should not be an issue. However if a person does not have a strong immune system, the occurrence of AIDS could seriously damage the immune system and maybe even cause a person to die.
AIDS is the disease which is caused by HIV- Human immunodeficiency virus. It is generally the case that those people infected with HIV tend to develop AIDS after a certain number of years have passed. With the use of drugs however, the time between a person gets infected with HIV and for AIDS to develop is reduced. In earlier times, science and medicine was not as advanced as it is today and in order to identify a person with HIV and/or AIDS was quite difficult. This led many people to get infected without a person being aware that he/she had the virus.
The ways in which the HIV virus is transmitted are many. It can be transmitted into a person’s body through basic fluids. Fluids such as blood, semen and breast milk are very common in transmitting this virus. Other fluids in the body such as saliva and tears too contain this virus; however the concentration of it is quite low in these fluids of the body. This makes the transmission of this virus through these fluids almost close to impossible. The most common way of getting infected with HIV is through unprotected sexual intercourse.
