Industries pollute because they have free hand on the Earth’s capacity to absorb, recycle and detoxify harmful wastes. The air we breathe is laden with emissions from industries, power plants and fumes from vehicles; where the water we use is contaminated with sewage, industrial effluents, chemicals; and land littered with garbage, plastics – toxins abound everywhere in the environment.

Normal economic forces work against pollution control because economic forces allow the use of all the natural resources at the disposal of mankind, and also resort to dangerous emissions harmful to humans and environment, to meet the growing demand for products and services like electricity, fuel, and other items. As people are becoming aware and environmentally conscious it is changing but not as fast as world is being polluted.
Q 4. Is it reasonable to expect totally pollution free environment? Why and why not?
