This is an essay on body language. Body language is a form of language however it comes under the category of non-verbal language. Body language includes in it the way a person stands, his/her expressions, gestures and the way they behave on certain things such as giving a shrug or nodding their head.

These aspects of body language are very important as they help in understanding what a person is thinking on a certain matter. Another reason why body language is important is because people do not always communicate verbally; sometimes non verbal communication is enough to convey a certain message and people need to understand how these messages can be interpreted.

There are various ways in which people can learn to how to understand body language. It must however be kept in mind that body language varies from culture to culture. Despite this, the body language and various gestures used tend to be similar amongst a lot of people. We all need to be aware of how people communicate with one another using gestures made the arm and hands. There are some people who are really good at being able to read gestures and people’s body language. They find it easy to interpret what another person is trying to say through his/her body language. There are however others who cannot do this very well.

Apart from gestures, another key element in body language is that of eye contact. This is particularly true for the people living in the Western world. When making eye contact with another person, there are many messages which can be conveyed. It depends very much on how long the eye contact is made for and how intense the gaze is.
