Childhood representations in the media are seen as the child being protected by adults to ensure that they are safe from the cruelties of the world. This image is further reinforced through various Hollywood movies. Most people find this image of childhood as being a romanticized view of what reality actually is. The view that children have an easy and simple life is not really how it is.

There are films which have been produced which go against this view and present one which shows that childhood is not exactly a special time for all children alike.
