These networks gave them the support and allowed them to grow up as responsible adults.
At the age of 30 when these resilient individuals were again found a majority three out of four had acquired come college education and were doing well in life in addition when compared to the low-risk peers they said they were happy. But they showed higher instances of health problems particularly men had stress-related problems while women had problems related with pregnancy and childbirth. Many children who had problems during their childhood and teens had rebounded and most of them were better off.
This study has shown that in spite of risk factors and unstable environment, many children do not get negatively affected, and so long as there is a balance between the stress factors and protective support children can grow up to be successful. It also shows that conditions in early childhood are very important. This study has led to state funding for high risk children.
