This essay discusses citizen journalism. Citizen journalism is sometimes seen some as being a threat to the profession of journalism. Citizen journalists themselves however have beliefs contrary to this. They believe that the methods which they make use of hold the profession of journalism at a high standard.

Citizen journalism is sometimes seen some as being a threat to the profession of journalism. Citizen journalists themselves however have beliefs contrary to this. They believe that the methods which they make use of hold the profession of journalism at a high standard. There are many organizations related to the news which do not have a problem with citizen journalism, especially when citizens are able to bring news to them which they have maybe missed out or overlooked upon. There are however others who do not appreciate this at all.

Citizen journalism has been able to bring about things to light which the media and journalists themselves have failed to capture. Things such as video footage and pictures of celebrities, crimes in progress or wrong behavior has been captured quite often by citizens which has then become available to journalists for use.

Some aspects of journalism and many journalists are definitely threatened by citizen journalism. This is because this form of journalism does not work according to the rules of the book. Journalists usually spend their entire lives trying to reach a status. This takes hard work and effort is put into becoming the best in their profession….
