This is a film review on Corrina, Corrina. This movie defines what happens to love and how it can overcome obstacles. This movie has subtle instances that make one smile and even laugh.

The movie industry has solemnly began to embrace various themes surrounding interracial relationships during the 1990s, in more recent years, the optimistic ideas that mixed relationships can work and that families come in many combinations, have subjugated films with mixed-race themes. (Public Broadcasting System) The power of friendship and the significance of family – whether extended, conventional or turned upside down – are also the center themes of several other films with multiracial plot lines.

The few films like Corrina, Corrina in recent years have focused on women’s interracial relationships are nearly always set in some earlier historical era. Black women have been usually stereotyped as in this particular movie, maligned, and, worse, ignored altogether. In large part, this is because women, and mainly Black women, throughout history have lacked creative and marketing control over their portrayals.

However Corrina, Corrina is not just about interracial relationships it is about the grief and coming to terms and ultimately accepting one’s loss of loved one. In this case a young girl having to deal with losing her mother.

In spite of all its shortcomings Corrina, Corrina is a remarkably good movie about the wrenching and chaotic emotions of grief. Corrina is one of those treasured souls whose energy, life force, and inner light are so powerful that it can lift the morale of others. The message of this film is that time alone does not heal. It is faithfulness to life that heals. Corrina is a fresh wind who helps set Manny and Molly on a new course. And once on that course, they are haggard into a relationship that none of them would ever have thought achievable.

This movie defines what happens to love and how it can overcome obstacles. This movie has subtle instances that make one smile and even laugh.  The end made me particularly happy to see the child and the father go from their unhappy existence to a contended life, traces of this inner peace seems so evident on their faces. This movie is more of an experience that you want to relive rather than an entertainment one forgets after watching it.
