This is a descriptive essay. I am not scared of many things in life, in fact most of the time I feel very brave and act fearless too, however even after years of regular visits to the dentist, I always feel queasy to the extent that I am ready to change my mind at the last moment.

I am not scared of many things in life, in fact most of the time I feel very brave and act fearless too, however even after years of regular visits to the dentist, I always feel queasy to the extent that I am ready to change my mind at the last moment.  This gnawing fear that I have of anguish and pain just does not go away till I am out of the dentist’s clinic.

I even remember the time when I had braces on and had to go to Dr. Bradley every few weeks and each time I used to have an argument with my mom about it. No I seem to be arguing with myself as I enter the reception area. The room is very cheery with colorful posters and evergreen plants dotting the room and the regular magazines for the patients as they wait for their turn. However the most important thing is old Mrs. Fry, she has been his receptionist since before me and has aged gracefully and greets everyone with the same welcoming smile that eases my apprehension to a certain degree.

“Hello Dear” she greets me and asks me to sit down and wait for my turn. As I sit and wait my ears keep on reminding me that Dr. Bradley is busy drilling away holes in someone’s teeth or trying to extract a tooth or two. However today my molar is aching so much that even my imagination is not working overtime as it usually does, so I try to distract myself by going through one of the magazines lying on the coffee table, I start wondering how I possibly could have come here again, I always try my best to avoid this kind of visit, but usually end up seeing Mrs. Fry and Mr. Bradley at least once a year.
