This is a term paper on the effect of play on human potential. I interviewed my grandfather who is a 76-year old active individual about his life and his play what he liked to do. What he revealed has been very interesting. His answers were revealing and as my following analysis will show it shows a significant difference when he talked about his intrinsic motivation and the enjoyment he had. His facial expressions reveal that just the thought of these intrinsic activities make him happy.

I interviewed my grandfather who is a 76-year old active individual about his life and his play what he liked to do. What he revealed has been very interesting. His answers were revealing and as my following analysis will show it shows a significant difference when he talked about his intrinsic motivation and the enjoyment he had. His facial expressions reveal that just the thought of these intrinsic activities make him happy.

When I asked him about his intrinsic motivations at three different stages he said as a child he loved to climb, and even though his mother would not let him but he used to climb trees and wall whenever he could. As an adolescent he loved to ride his bicycle and he said he used to be so engrossed in his thoughts, that he used to forget about his surroundings. As an adult whenever he wanted to relax he would drive around in his car endlessly.

When asked about daydreaming, he said he used to daydream about what he wanted to eat and also what a toy or a trinket he really wanted. As he became an adolescent his daydreaming increased and he always day dreamt of owning a shiny new bicycle. While as an adult he dreamt about getting away from the routine life.
