Media violence is something hard to measure and certainly harder to define. There are many researchers who track the amount of violence which is shown through television programming. Every researcher has a different definition of what violence really is. Some say that it is the act of causing harm to another person, threatening him or her or maybe even going to the extent of killing someone. These acts of violence when shown on television cause serious harm to people and it can have effects on them, particularly children and young adults.
The violence which the media portrays certainly has negative effects. Some experts state that viewing media violence causes a person to become aggressive. However others vary in their opinion by stating that media violence and aggression are not related at all. Some say that it is only the psychological aspect which causes a person to become aggressive whereas some do agree to a certain extent. For a person to be violent due to some psychological aspect would mean that it is probably innate in the person to be aggressive.
There are many couples and parents nowadays who fight. If parents fight in front of their children, sometimes the children become used to seeing this form of violence and conduct the same type of behavior in other circumstances. The media is however still the only thing which is blamed by parents and other individuals for wrongfully affecting the behavior of their children..
