This life has a certain splendor and magnificence about it (Charles Darwin- the Origin of Species). What we know today regarding modern science and the science of finding out about our past is governed by what Darwin had to say. He talks about the most basic yet thoughtful scientific theory which is what governs our lives to a great extent today. Many theories were put forward by other scientists before Darwin however none could prove what Darwin [roved. His theory of sexual selection and natural selection beats all other theories and scientists as it is able to talk about those things and confirm those beliefs which scientists before him could not. These theories proposed by Darwin are extremely important as these led to Darwin’s theory of evolution. The term ‘survival of the fittest’ which we commonly hear is quite often used with the ideology proposed by Darwin. In order to understand Darwin’s theory, it is important to understand what the term ‘fit’ means. Fit does not refer to the mental and physical well being of an individual as it is usually considered to be. Instead it refers to how suited a person is for the environment he/she is in and how readily he/she can adapt to a change in environment be it a change in climate, food or even shelter. As time goes by, certain changes occur within individuals which may be unnoticeable. These changes however lead to the development of anatomical/physiological features within individuals which help make their lives easier. This applies to all organisms.
