Abstract: AIDS has been a problem which has claimed the lives of many individuals particularly in America during 1996. It still continues to do so today.

Were you aware that if a line of pennies was laid out on a road which was more than a mile long, the pennies would count up to more than 1000 dollars? And if instead of pennies there were dimes, they would amount to more than 1 million dollars. How about instead of pennies and dimes, we think in terms of lives? It was in the year 1996 that AIDS was a disease at its peak and was considered to be an epidemic due to which a quilt was made which consisted of individual panels which were 6 by 3 feet in size which was then displayed in Washington D.C. Each of the squares was a representation of the people who had lost their lives due to this disease. Some of the panels only consisted of the names and birth and death date of the victim however there were some panels which had more personal items attached to the quilt such as a stuffed animal, a pair of jeans and maybe even a poem. Despite the quilt being long enough and consisting of 70,000 panels, it still did not represent almost 93 percent of the people who had lost their lives due to this disease (Check). The worst part about these figures is that they are a representation of the deaths which took place due to AIDS only in the United States of America.
