This essay discusses issues related to euthanasia. The primary reason behind writing on the topic of Euthanasia is the fact that I want to understand the different views which people have on this topic. People are either in favor of euthanasia or against it and my purpose of writing on this topic are to be able to understand what made people decide which side they will favor.

Euthanasia is a very heated debate topic and has experienced many views from political, religious and social groups. Those who are against the practice of euthanasia would like it removed from the practice of medicine. Others however believe that when extreme circumstances arise, people should have the ability to make their own decisions hence decide their fate. The government nor the citizens of any country have been able to reach a conclusion or solution as to what should be done about this matter. If they have tried, they have been met with strict opposition. For this topic of debate to end peacefully with all parties satisfied is something which will definitely take a very long time.

Euthanasia has been defined as a form of killing which is painless. It is particularly carried out to bring a disease, particularly an incurable and painful one to an end. It can be seen as a form of mercy killing (World Book). Euthanasia is about ending a person’s life however if a person is to take the life of another individual, he/she should have the permission to terminate the individual’s life. This is not as easy as many other religious, political and social institutions have given euthanasia various meanings which makes it all the more difficult to understand.

When a person is removed from any form of technology or machine keeping him/her alive, it is known as passive euthanasia.
