This theory best explains the situation at western motels. The employees are leaving without reasons and yet the wages are good enough. According to Herzberg, pay only produces a short time motivation. This is because pay does effect motivation and recognition, which are both motivators. Pay for recognition will motivate more than pay for performance. Hence managers should make hygiene factors positive while motivating employees more.
