One of the issues affecting the world today is of racism. Most people in society are unaware to what extent racism is present in the various spheres of life; in schools, in the work place and any place where social living occurs. Racism was unacceptable many years ago and it is still considered discriminatory today.
Racism is very much existent in our society even today and people need to become aware of this and start devising ways by which they can solve this problem. Some people are of the opinion that if a person is born into this world a racist, he will end up practicing racism. This however is not true to any extent. No one can be born a racist; however they can learn to become a racist through the process of socialization which occurs from childhood to adulthood. Certain events in Canada’s past, basic cause, mainstream, government and institutions can be seen as solutions to the problem of racism.
A basic cause of racism is seen to be frustration. Facing a social problem leads people to get angry and take their anger out on people who may not even be concerned with the situation causing them to become frustrated. An example of this can be when people going through an economically tough time blame immigrants as the reason behind their jobs being taken away and the lack of job opportunities (Abanes). An analysis of the sort is simple to make however an assumption such as this tends to lead toward hate and racism.
