As the play progresses, after Death has come for Everyman and before he enters the grave, he learns some vital lessons such as: When he goes to his final ruling, neither his contacts, family, nor private belongings will be of any use to him. Only his superior actions will be of any assistance as he accounts for his life. The sacraments, especially repentance, confession, and penance, are necessary to him, as he gets ready for death. Shortly before he dies, he must get an ultimate ceremony. Everything connected with the material body– loveliness, power, prudence, are left behind as he draw near the grave.
