This is a term paper on Governance, War and Peace. First with reference to governance the teachings of Tao Te Ching is that true essence of governance is that those who are governing should be more concerned about how and who they are governing and what can be the consequences of their actions, as in 42 the verse says that “for one gains by losing/and loses by gaining” similarly by keeping in check ones ambitions one can strengthen the people.
The Eastern philosophies as presented in Tao Te Ching, Confucius, and from Art of War are not only thought provoking but are profoundly moving and have a revolutionary philosophy which is very different from the accepted Western understanding of government, war and peace. In addition what is most astonishing for me is in these times of war and conflict where there is only one superpower left in the world; these philosophies are not only current but also very relevant. For me the meaning and concept of the terms governance, war and peace have taken on a wholly different meaning.

Tao teaches passive ruling, discouraging interferences and regulations. In addition if governance means hurting others it is of no use. The reason for hunger poverty and rebellion is because of the fault of the rulers. In addition ruling is regarded in negative terms.
