Principals, teachers, and teacher-aides saw themselves as having conflicting characterization of the A1 situation and changeable levels of power. The demands they were subjected to required them to reassess the way they defined this change and focus on the projected costs and benefits to themselves (self-interest) and others (educational philosophy). Their relationship with other school staff affected on their position because of the need to work collaboratively.
In order to gain an insight of the impact of A1 on school based relationships, the foundation on which staff responded to A1 will be examined.
