For example, they must explain to the client about their plan of treatment because they are limit to a certain amount of it. This is due to the fact managed care will only supplying only small amounts of treatments and counseling for a certain fee. This could also lead to deeper ethical issues within the managed care organization. These issues are such as upcoming and downcoding which is basically dishonest by the counselors who partake in them. Upcoding refers to when the counselor writes down a more serious digamous so that the client can receive more treatment by the managed care organization. Along with that, downcoding means that the counselor writes down a less serious digamous so that the client can receive more treatment. For instance, managed care will not provide service for people who have Axis II; therefore, the counselor ignores the seriousness of the disorder and treats it as Axis I. This ethical issue is very dangerous because it is fraudulent along with being unethical. Therefore, within the managed care organization, there are many ethical issues, which could put the welfare of every client due to fact that it can lead to mistrust in the medical field among other professionals and the general public.
