This essay discusses multiculturalism in adult education. When I asked him whether multiculturalism was increasing in higher educational institutions, he believed that it was on the rise but to a limited extent, people have become aware of diversity in education and this has been possible because of different social movements like civil rights movements and organized sectors of the society which questioned the underrepresented minorities and tried to being them in the forefront of things “ both in the development of curriculums as well as in the social, racial and gender composition of our schools.”

Board shows that although the judgment was passed but even today schools are highly segregated.
On the effect of diversity and multiculturalism on development of curriculum in higher education, he thought that now many courses are being set keeping in mind race, class and gender and it is a part of the core curriculum and others have tried to incorporate it, but the task as I quote him is “uphill” as many students and educators either ignore it considering it to be unimportant or they just pay lip service to it.
How his teaching had evolved by incorporating diversity he said he tried to bring out experiences of different students in the classroom, he said that through these discussions people from a varied class, racial background and gender, understood the behavior pattern and the responses of different people. This helped people understand their own situation with reference to others. Here his teaching is based on experiential learning.
