The thing which we need to deal with is not how many Americans in the population are likely to view capital punishment as a barbaric act. The thing which needs to be considered is with the availability of this information are they likely to still believe that way (Thurgood Marshall).

According to research, 250 people are added to the list of criminal already in line for the death penalty and out of which at least 35 people are executed. Capital punishment can be seen as the worst and harshest form of punishment which anyone can receive in the United States of America. After being convicted, the criminal is put into the next phase which is that of punishment. The jury puts forward the suggestion of the death penalty and this goes ahead only if the judge agrees to it. There are various ways in which the death penalty can be administered and depending on the decision made by the judge is the punishment and its form selected. Lethal injection is however the most common way in which the capital punishment is carried out.

With people having various views and opinions about capital punishment, it is a controversial and difficult topic. Every person has his/her own view of capital punishment and they can be persuaded to change their views by other people as mentioned in the book, “The Penalty of Death” ( H.L.Mencken’s).  Another author of a book, Execution by Anna Quindlan also talks about execution and capital punishment.
