Researchers have conducted many studies in order to measure people’s IQ. Some researchers believe that testing can help understand a child’s IQ whereas others believe that heritage, biology and genes can help explain this factor. The people make use of statistics in order to provide an explanation to IQ levels.

Another type of group makes use of cultural ecology. This group studies the IQ by examining the effects the environment has on the child. The people who constitute this group are of the opinion that testing is unfair in determining a child’s IQ. The major issue however is neither of these groups is willing to help each other out. Therefore the question still persists as to what IQ is and how it can and should be measured?

At the basic level, intelligence can be referred to as the ability which people have which helps them reason and think in a complex manner (Ceci). Studies have shown that the intelligence of a person depends on the situation in which a person is in. For instance, an individual present at the racetracks may be able to think better and make a large amount of money. However when this person is not at the tracks, he may not be able to comprehend as to how the Wall Street works; intelligence thus depends on the present situation.
