Thomas safeguarded the mendicant orders and, successfully was able to protect the Averroistic interpretations of Aristotle and fend off the Franciscan rejection of Greek philosophy. Because of his able he was able to keep the modus vivendi between religion and philosophy.  Through his theological work Thomas was able to regulate the Catholic Church and his commentaries on Aristotle represent a cultural wealth.
