This is a term paper on ending wars on foreign lands. Today an average American would feel insecure and susceptible to attacks the same that he did eight years ago and likewise any Iraqi or Afghani would still be worrying about the same problems as they did before the war.
Another major reason for putting end to these wars in foreign lands is of course the homeland security, as despite spending so much on these wars, it’s not buying America any security. Today an average American would feel insecure and susceptible to attacks the same that he did eight years ago and likewise any Iraqi or Afghani would still be worrying about the same problems as they did before the war. So what exactly did these wars achieve or what change did they bring about? They Americans had wanted security and that is the one thing that they did not get as desired. This fact is evident from various surveys and polls as one source explains: “The public’s view that the federal government is spending too much on the military has increased substantially this year, to its highest level in more than 15 years. Gallup’s annual World Affairs poll finds more than 4 in 10 Americans now saying the government is spending too much for national defense and the military. Despite this, in recent years, Americans have also become increasingly likely to say the nation’s military is not strong enough, with slightly less than half currently expressing this sentiment. Republicans are slightly more likely than Democrats to say the country’s military is currently not strong enough; Democrats are much more inclined to feel the government spends too much on the military.” (Carroll)
It was in April last year when a young college student , perhaps in a depressive state of mind decided to take his life along with the lives of other young men and women on the Virginia Teck campus. A lot of people wondered as to where the government was and why it was unable to provide security to so many of the young vulnerable students.
