Abstract: ADHD is a disorder which is commonly found in children and pertains to their ability to concentrate and their span of attention which is often very short.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a disorder that is found in children. Certain characteristics of this disorder include being inattentive, impulsive, and hyper active (Kirst-Ashman, Zastrow 2004).

Children who do not pay attention or are unable to pay attention may get bored of the task given to them, in a short period of time, while finding it difficult to focus on their work. Hyperactive children usually register very high levels of physical activity and are always in motion. Impulsive children find it difficult to control their reactions and are unable to think before they act out their actions. The different characteristics of this disorder help in determining the diagnosis of this disorder which includes (1) ADHD with inattention, (2) ADHD with hyperactivity or (3) ADHD with hyperactivity and inattention (Kirst-Ashman, Zastrow 2004).
