This essay discusses my interest in nursing career. Although Nursing was not something I thought of adopting as profession, since I was a child, I always thought that being a construction worker or being a doctor was very fascinating using tools and instruments. However as I grew up I had the opportunity to visit my Aunt who was very sick, and hospitalized.

Although Nursing was not something I thought of adopting as profession, since I was a child, I always thought that being a construction worker or being a doctor was very fascinating using tools and instruments. However as I grew up I had the opportunity to visit my Aunt who was very sick, and hospitalized. On each of my visit I never saw a doctor, but each time I saw a nurse coming in and taking care of her. Observing this I began to wonder what actually nurses do.

I asked my parents and started getting books on careers so that I could understand what nursing was all about. As I grew, science fascinated me but I was undecided about which career to chose. As a sixteen-year old I started to volunteer in the local community hospital which although not big did have a large and efficient staff. I came across a lot of nurse practitioners who were very dedicated to their profession and not only provided the patients with the physical care but played a major role in giving them moral and emotional support which was not given by the doctors.
