This essay discusses censorship. Every individual is entitled to his/her opinion and viewpoint. Some people are however denied this right and their views are censored.

Every individual is entitled to his/her opinion and viewpoint. Some people are however denied this right and their views are censored. The main reason behind censoring people’s views is because it may be different from the norm.

Everyone always believes that they are right, and if they hear views that are different from theirs, they may not want to hear these new ideas as they would be different from theirs. It is not correct that some people are given the right to express their views and opinions, whereas this right is taken away from those others whose views are different.

This is known as censorship and it is considered wrong as people do not get the chance to have them heard. It also stops freedom of information which is something very vital if democracy is to survive. If censorship is imposed, artistic, moral and intellectual growth ceases to exist and individuals would have to listen to whatever their government tells them as they would have no other source of information.

This form of tool was used by the Nazi’s in Germany to ensure that the average person remained ignorant. This was a way by which they promoted anti-Semitism as well.

Congress will make no law  which will reduce the amount of freedom people have in their speech (United States Constitution-First Amendment, Murphy). This refers to the government not being able to amend any form of art, literature or music. Americans have the right to express themselves in any way they wish and in any form without having to worry about the repercussions which could result…
