The death penalty can be seen as an unequal and unjust form of punishment. Even without proper evidence and support, there are many criminals who are sentenced to the death penalty every year. Sentencing a criminal to death however costs the government a lot of money and takes up a lot of time. In arguments about capital punishment, many people often show their concern about the cost incurred in carrying out such a practice. Surely, this form of punishment keeps violence criminals off the streets but is the money spent worth the effort?
When considering the pro’s and con’s of death penalty, a fair argument would be that sentencing one criminal to death may prevent others from committing crime. However no one can actually be sure of whether this practice is going to be affective as there are many criminals who do not seem to be affected by this type of a punishment.
