This essay discusses the Catholic Church crisis. Because each member in Catholic hierarchy did not live up to the three “requirements” mentioned above, the Church today stands accused of hypocrisy because it has been teaching one thing being semper fidelis, always faithful, to the Catholic Church and to God and living another reality.

During the sixties and seventies, the sexual revolution came into being and with it, came reports of otherwise fine men, in the view of the church, coming out as homosexuals. While laypeople can argue until eternity about whether homosexuality is a sin, there is no debate about whether homosexuality is a sin when it comes to the homosexual act between a boy and a man. And let the man be a priest and the entire world frowns upon the act and demands answers and justice.
It is obvious why pedophilia is immoral. Children are not in a position to defend themselves. However, the act becomes more heinous when a man of the cloth perpetrates it, add a cover-up and the result is confusion. The reason for the confusion and outrage goes back to the fundamental questions asked earlier. Priests are men who God ordains for His service. First and foremost God calls all men and women to follow his commandments. God’s commandments can be found in Exodus 22 in the “Ten Commandments.” Here the laws are quite clear. For the sake of this discussion, two of them will be analyzed. “Thou shalt not commit adultery” and “thou shall not bear false witness” (lie).
